Description The idea of a ladder to heaven is very old .. stretching at least from Jacob’s Dream in Genesis to Led Zeppelin. The idea of beings of light traveling up and down is also very old. I’ve tried to capture these images in the structure of the piece. The name ‘Jacob’s Ladder’ also refers to various objects .. from a rising electrical arc to a type of cat’s cradle and a simple child’s toy.

Jacob’s Ladder should have a large, resonant hall with a balcony in the back. The four flutists start on the stage. The other players move to different stations during the work (they do not play while walking). There’s enough time for the movement. At times a quartet, a trio or a duo will be playing… The piece divides into 7 tableaux, played with no breaks.
